A virtual world, also called 3D Metaverse, is a computer-based simulated environment intended for its users to inhabit and interact via avatars. Avatars are usually depicted as textual, two-dimensional, or three-dimensional graphical representations, although other forms are possible(auditory and touch sensations for example). Some, but not all, virtual worlds allow for multiple users.

VZones was first launched in 1985 for Commodore 64 machines which maintains the look and feel of the original 2D environments developed by Fujitsu. Avatars can be customized with various body types but more creativity is given to the heads which are known to be stolen and pawned by head thieves. VZones offers three zones to interact with which can be accessed and paid for separately (Dreamscape, newHorizone, & Second Kingdom), each with their own distinct settings.
